1. Learn about Christmas customs in France

3. Send a  holiday post card  in French

4. Go to the Internaute site

5.       Understand  instructions in French

3. FInalize your menu. Start with French Food and Cook. Be sure to copy all URLs into your document to that you can find your recipes easily.  ALL recipes must be approved by me in advance if they do not come from the links I have here. The Food network is not an appropriate resource for this project.

The purpose of this project is to learn about FRENCH meals from FRANCE. Foods from other francophone countries are not appropriate for this project.

Les élections en France- Xavier Sartre

L’élection présidentielle :

 Elle désigne le président de la République, le chef de l’Etat. Il s’agit d’un scrutin direct uninominal, majoritaire à deux tours. Cela signifie que l’on élit une seule personne (uninominal), que le gagnant est celui qui recueille la majorité absolue des voix (50 % des voix plus une) et que deux tours sont possibles si personne n’a recueilli la majorité lors du premier tour. En cas de second tour, seuls les deux candidats ayant obtenu le plus de voix sont sélectionnés. Il n’y a qu’une seule circonscription : l’ensemble du territoire de la République française, c’est-à-dire que tous les citoyens âgés de 18 ans et plus, peuvent aller voter, qu’ils habitent un département (métropolitain ou d’outre-mer), un territoire d’outre-mer ou une collectivité d’outre-mer. Chaque voix compte.

Les candidats appartiennent le plus souvent à des partis politiques dont ils sont les chefs ou les représentants pour cette élection. Mais des candidats indépendants peuvent se présenter.

 L’élection a toujours lieu un dimanche. Le second tour est organisé quinze jours après, toujours un dimanche. Les premiers résultats sont donnés à 20 heures. Depuis 1974, l’élection présidentielle a lieu au début du mois de mai mais il n’y a pas de date fixe. Si un président démissionne ou décède, l’élection doit se tenir dans les vingt à trente-cinq jours qui suivent. Au début de la Vème République, le président était élu en décembre comme en 1958, et en 1965.

 Le président de la République est élu pour un mandat de cinq ans renouvelable une fois.

Les élections législatives :

Elles désignent les députés qui siègent à l’Assemblée nationale, la chambre basse du Parlement. C’est un scrutin direct uninominal majoritaire à deux tours comme l’élection présidentielle. La France est alors divisée en 577 circonscriptions électorales. Dans chacune d’elle, les électeurs ont le choix entre plusieurs candidats, indépendants ou représentants de partis politiques. Un candidat est élu lorsqu’il a obtenu la majorité absolue des suffrages. Si ce n’est pas le cas au premier tour, un second est organisé deux semaines après. Contrairement à la présidentielle, tous les candidats ayant obtenu 12,5 % des inscrits sur les listes électorales, peuvent se maintenir au second tour. Le gagnant dans les cas de triangulaires ou de quadrangulaires (présence de trois ou quatre candidats au second tour), est celui qui obtient le plus de votes (ou majorité relative). En cas de face à face, est élu celui qui remporte la majorité absolue des suffrages exprimés.

 Les députés sont élus pour cinq ans.

Les élections municipales :

Elles permettent aux Français d’élire les conseils municipaux. Selon la population de la commune, le scrutin est différent et fort complexe. Le second tour a lieu cette fois une semaine après le premier, toujours un dimanche comme pour toutes les élections politiques en France. Selon la taille de la commune, le nombre de conseillers municipaux varie. Ce sont les conseillers municipaux qui élisent ensuite le maire et ses adjoints.

Les élections cantonales :

 Les départements sont divisés en circonscriptions électives appelées les cantons. Les électeurs dans chacun d’eux élisent un conseiller général qui siègera au conseil général, l’assemblée départementale. Le scrutin est direct, uninominal majoritaire à deux tours comme la présidentielle et les législatives. Les candidats ayant obtenu 10% des suffrages des inscrits peuvent se maintenir au second tour qui se tient le dimanche suivant le premier tour. Est élu celui qui a recueilli la majorité des suffrages.

Les élections régionales :

Les conseillers régionaux siègent au conseil régional, qui est l’assemblée de chaque région. Le mode de scrutin est assez complexe. Il s'agit d'un scrutin proportionnel à deux tours avec prime majoritaire. Les conseillers municipaux, généraux et régionaux sont élus pour six ans. Ces trois assemblées élisent leur président qui est le chef de l’exécutif local.
